With the participation of Adrian Bojenoiu (co-founder of Mobile Biennale and Director Club ElectroPutere in Craiova); Suela Cennet (Director of The Pill, Istanbul); Faraht Özgür (curator & artist); Kathleen Ritter (curator and artist); Asli Seven (curator); Marianne Derrien (Vice President of Cea French Association of Curators & curator). The exchange is moderated by Ali Akay, (curator and Professor of sociology at Mimar Sinan University, Istanbul).
The first edition of « Informal Meetings” is thought as a time to exchange and share experiences on mobility within current curatorial practices. Contrasting biennale cases with ephemeral or mobile projects across different sites, this meeting will be an opportunity to ask how we take into consideration the host territory and the responsibility and specifics inherent to working in the international context.

Who are they ?
Adrian Bojenoiu has a PhD degree in philosophy, currently he is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bucharest. Independent curator and founder of the Centre for contemporary culture Club Electroputere, initiator of the project Romanian Cultural Resolution, published in 2011 at Hatje & Cantz printing house. Since 2012 is co-founder of the art project Mobile Biennale. www.clubelectroputere.ro
Ferhat Özgür (b. 1965 Ankara) lives and works in Istanbul. graduated from Gazi University, Education Faculty, Department Of Painting in 1989. Having completed his master and doctorate studies in Hacettepe University Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Painting in 1997, he was appointed to the same department as professor where he has taught for nearly two decades. Ferhat Özgür is a poetic chronicler of his surroundings and one of the most fascinating contemporary Turkish artists. Most of his incredible works emerge from the historically important melting pot of his home country, where different cultures and religions converge. He is a master of subtle nuances and of complex searches for clues. Furthermore, he is skilled at humorously and profoundly positioning his works in between the tensions of tradition and modern times: some are spontaneous observations, some cinematically composed pieces.
Özgür took part in the 6th Berlin Biennale, the 10th Istanbul Biennale and 3rd Örebro Open Art Biennale-Sweeden, 1st Mardin Biennale and Sinopale 1, 3 Turkey and the 1st Tirana Biennale. His works have been exhibited in numerous venues including, Centre George Pompidou-Paris, Haus der Kulturen Der Welt-Berlin, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, MUMOK-Wien, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo-Turin, Mattress Factory Art Museum-Pittsburgh, Casino Luxembourg Forum d’art Comtemporaine, Ludwig Forum Aachen, Bochum Museum etc, Triennale Bovisa, Tirana National Museum etc. His recent solo shows were held in 2013 MoMA PS1 New York and Marabouparken-Sweden.
Kathleen Ritter is an artist based in Vancouver and Paris. She was an artist in residence at La Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, in 2013. Her art practice broadly explores questions of visibility, especially in relation to systems of power, language and technology. Recent solo exhibitions took place at G Gallery, Toronto, and Battat Contemporary, Montréal, both in 2014. In addition Ritter has organized exhibitions in Canada and abroad. Her writing on contemporary art has appeared in ESSE, Prefix Photo, and Fillip as well as in numerous catalogues.
Asli Seven is a curator and writer based between Istanbul and Paris. Her recent curatorial projects include the solo exhibition of Murat Akagunduz, “Vertigo” at Arter, Istanbul with a series of commissioned sound performances and the group exhibition “Casting the Circle” at Galerist, Istanbul, focusing on the metamorphic relationships between landscapes and human body. In 2015 she completed the curatorial training program Ecole du Magasin in Grenoble, France where she produced “Take You There Radio,” a temporary radio broadcast as exhibition bringing together curators, artists, researchers and musicians. Between 2012-2014 she worked as artist liaison in Istanbul’s Galeri Mana, where she also established a line of gallery publications and served as editor for artist books, monographs and catalogs. Her writing has been published in Art Unlimited Magazine, Arte East Quarterly, Harper’s Bazaar Art Arabia, Agos and m-est.org. She contributed in publications ranging from exhibition catalogs, monographs and artist books for Arter, Galeri Mana, Galerist and more recently Collectorspace in Istanbul. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Document and Contemporary Art Program, European School of Visual Arts, France and freelance curatorial consultant for Galerist, Istanbul.
Marianne Derrien lives in Paris. Vice President of C-E-A. Born in Berlin in 1981, Marianne Derrien is an independent curator, art critic and teacher based in Paris. She has been a gallery assistant and project manager for exhibitions at the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Medici. She regularly collaborates, as guest curator, with institutions in France (Mrac Sérignan, La Halle des Bouchers, International City of Arts, Picasso Museum, Salon de Montrouge) and abroad (Mudam Luxembourg, Plataforma Revolver, Unosunove, Wooyang Museum in South Korea). Regularly publishing critical texts on both emerging and established artists, she obtained, in 2014, the CNAP theory / art scholarship for her research project entitled: « The use of forces: Magic, alchemical, occult visions » in contemporary art and visual cultures « . She teaches art theory and curatorial practices at the Sorbonne School of Arts and Paris 8 Vincennes Saint-Denis University, where she organizes a series of lectures on curatorial crafts. After coordinating the Young Curators Invitational (YCI) program for the Ricard Corporate Foundation during the FIAC, she has been providing, since 2016, the MEET UP visits for PACA Artists’ Documents and the general coordination of the European program CURATORIAL FUTURES (Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Romania, Netherlands) for CEA, the French association of curators with the support of the Institut français.
